TIME MACHINE
At the same time there's an excellent movie in the Cinemas called 'Time Machine', the Italian band TIME MACHINE released their new CD entitled ''. This new CD is maybe one of the best Italian releases ever, as it contains some excellent progressive melodic hardrock/metal from a very high quality. I just had to interview this awesome band that has been around for quite some time now. Here's what went down...
Now first,
could you tell me more about the beginning of the band?
We started
off in 1992 as a project band; it wasn't a band as meant in its
standard definition. It was some friends coming from different
musical expereiences who wanted to do a one-off recording before
closing down their career. Then, a friend with a record label
told us he woul have liked to release our demo. Since then, many
things have happened... and not all of them were good. We've also
had uncountable line-up change, I guess we top both
Toto as Black Sabbath as Deep Purple!
Please
tell me all about all your releases?
Too many
to tell about each one of them!! I can tell you that beside
"Evil" the ones we love most are "Act II:
Galileo", "Eternity Ends" and "Khali".
On top of those there's many Eps and singles which were done upon
request from some markets. Plus, we're re-releasing the back
catalogue in 2 CD format (2 CD for the price of one).
Which
bands/artists influenced you because we can hear lots of
influences in your songs?
Our
influences are many and extremely diverse. We love Black Sabbath,
Scott McGill, Toto, Queensryche, Yes, Cynic, Paco De Lucia to
name just a few... I believe we're influenced by a number of
artists from heavy rock to soul.
Please
tell us everything about your fantastic new album?
Well, it
seems like many like it and sales are going better and better
even though we'll never get rich on it! So far we only received
very good reviews apart from a couple of exceptions... I don't
know much about airplay but I don't think there is much simply
because there are not many radio stations around. As for the
songs of the album.... they're songs and they show we're still
learning! Thank you very much for using the word
"fantastic", but this shows that it cannot be us
talking about it, it's your duty!
How did
you get in touch with your label LUCRETIA RECORDS in the
beginning?
Because
two of us founded it together with some friends who are not
involved with the music industry.
Wow I
didn't knew that! Looking back, which album do you consider your
best one?
For sure
"Act II: Galileo". It's still great and always
contemporary. It's been the album that troubled us more than all
so far but, except fpor "Evil", it's the one that's
still giving us huge reward, both in terms of appreciation as in
terms of sales (well, I guess both things run on the same track,
don't they?).
How does
the future look like for TIME MACHINE, touring plans? Already
writing new songs for a new album? Side-projects?
We've
through with the first pre-production session of some of the new
material, now we take a break for some live activity and will
return to the studio in September/October. We shall be on the
road around mid-May trough the end of July. Then we might do live
again in October according to some new connections we're setting
right in this period. We shall play mostly the northern part of
Italy, Switzerland, southern France and it seems now likly to do
Greece, Germany and Denmark.
Finally,
anything to add...
A huge
THANK YOU to all our listeners and to the media people like you
who support our work!
