FINGERS was a typical early 1980s sounding American band. They came out of New Jersey, and leader of the band was Rick George, with whom I got in touch now after 20 years since the band released their only LP, a mini-album consisting of 6 tracks. Musically FINGERS was playing a mixture of AOR, Radiorock and quirky Poprock, sounding like a cross between the classy AOR sound of THE SHERBS, PASSNGER, 707, THRILLS, PREVIEW and the more quirky approach of Poprock acts like DONNIE IRIS, CITY BOY and even HUEY LEWIS!

Opener "Video games" is not the kind of song the AOR fan is and was waiting for, as this was an attempt for the Top 40 Pop audience, and the song reflects the style that was quite popular back then, whichw as uptempo quirky new waveish poprock like DONNIE IRIS and CITY BOY did. Much better are the following two songs, both "Don't call me" (a la PASSENGER, SHERBS, STEEL BREEZE, MAYDAY etc.) and "Hold out" (a la RPM, AVIATOR) are classy early 1980s AOR/Radiorockers.

On side-B there are 2 more non-interesting quirky poprockers ("She won't dance" and "I wanna be like you"), and one classy AOR rocker "Dangerous life" (with a very catchy chorus a la RPM, PRISM and even I-TEN!).

So, this 1982 record offered a bit of this and that, ending up as a half-AOR/half-poprock record that is even today worth buying, but hard to get. Recommended if you enjoy any of the mentioned bands, and you can now e-mail the bandleader RICK GEORGE at: georgeink@cox.net

After the LP was released, FINGERS split up, and some of the bandmembers formed other bands, but since Rick heard about the value of this FINGERS LP nowadays (up to 40 dollars), they reformed for a short period more or less and played some shows together again, so with this review up on our site who knows what will happen next!
